Jane Skingley was brought up in Sussex and studied Geography at Durham University and then gained a MBA from Cranfield. Her passion for the arts lead her to give up her career in financial PR to pursue painting. She was fortunate to study under Charles McKinnon and began painting professionally in 2007.
Jane's interests and subject matters are in seascapes, landscapes and still lifes which she paints in oil. Her work is often rich in texture and she is interested in random mark making, believing that each mark has a beauty and energy that cannot be created through meticulous painting. Much of each painting is created through flicking and dripping, giving each painting a certain edge.
Her first exhibition was a sell out and since then she has gone from strength to strength and has exhibited throughout the UK and Europe and with shows in New York. Skingley has exhibited at a number of venues including Glyndebourne Opera House in East Sussex and the Mall Galleries.
Jane's work can be seen at Kellie Miller Arts from April 2015
