Kerr grew up in the dramatic landscape of North Yorkshire between the moors and the North Sea, and from an early age found herself mesmerised by the interaction of the ever changing light and her natural environment. Her inspiration is drawn from a fascination with the movement of light and dark and her emotional response to it.

Kerr works between her studios in the northeast of England and the southern Spanish mountains - two contrasting landscapes that reflect the polarity of her work.

I love to paint and have a strong need to create. My work explores memory, emotion, colour and the way a particular place, environment or ever-changing light can affect the way I feel. My painting process is emotive and highly energised. Often, I begin a piece inspired purely by emotion and then comes a memory of place and time... then  a landscape begins to form. Or I can begin with a landscape in mind and then the piece becomes more abstracted as emotions take over. I move fast and for long periods until I feel the painting begins to reveal to me its story...then I stand back, look, absorb, then off I go again until I feel the piece tells me it’s complete.

Kerr's work has been featured in a wide range of exhibitions in the UK, Europe and further afield and is held in private collections worldwide.
