Paul Wearing
-
Paul Wearing holds both BA and MA Degrees in Ceramics from Cardiff. An accomplished artist, Paul has been the recipient of several awards and exhibited widely throughout the UK.
Paul's ceramic vessels are inspired by nature and the landscape; embracing the contrasts of control and chance within artistic process. Textures that manifest naturally on surfaces within diverse urban and rural landscapes, are fundamental to his practice. Paul expresses this relationship through the coil-built ceramic sculptural vessel form and glazed surface. It is the relationship between the slow cycles of nature and the making process - leading to alchemical developments within the kiln - that underpins his work. -
In 2001, Paul Wearing was awarded a Setting Up Grant for Craftspeople and the following year he was named winner of Welsh Artist of the Year for Craft Section.
Arts Council of Wales awarded Paul Wearing Production Grants for creative professionals in 2014, 2017 and 2019.
