  • Tim has developed a distinctive visual language through his cut and polished sculptural glass pieces, which explore the dynamic relationship between light, transparency and form. His work invites viewers to consider shifting perspectives, optical illusions and the architecture of light itself.

At the core of Tim’s practice is a desire to slow things down. In a world that moves at an increasingly rapid pace, he aims to create work that invites quiet reflection and encourages people to take time with what they see and feel.

His innovative approach has earned him recognition across Europe, including selection for two of the continent’s most prestigious exhibitions: the Coburg Glass Prize in Germany (2014) and the International Glass Prize at the GlazenHuis in Belgium (2015). In the UK, Tim won the People’s Prize at the 2022 British Glass Biennale and was runner-up for the Glass Sellers’ Prize in 2024.

  • Tim Rawlinson was born in Bristol, UK, in 1985. He initially studied Architecture at Brighton University before discovering his passion for glass. He went on to graduate in 2011 with a degree in Ceramics and Glass from Buckinghamshire New University. That same year, he exhibited his degree work at New Designers in London, where he met Peter Layton, founder of London Glassblowing. Peter invited Tim to join the studio for work experience, and Tim has since become an invaluable member of the London Glassblowing team, playing a key role in setting up and managing the cold working studio.

Over recent years, Tim has established himself as a leading figure in contemporary glass art. His work is represented by several major glass galleries in the United States, with recent exhibitions in Florida and New York City. Today, his pieces are in growing demand internationally.
