Hove plinth crowdfunding campaign launched

Hove Plinth is a community project that promises to bring inspiring sculptures to Brighton & Hove seafront.  Showcasing new sculpture on the seafront could soon become a reality if the public get behind a fund raising drive in June to support Hove Plinth.

Hove Civic Society, the charity managing this community project, is launching a sensational crowdfunding campaign in association with Crowdfunder.co.uk and Brighton's  Big Screen 2016.

With an enticing range of rewards attached to donations on offer, Hove Civic Society hopes crowdfunding will raise the remaining £35,000 of the £100,000 needed to build Hove Plinth. Grants, donations and contributions in kind account for the £65,000 already raised and the total cost will cover the plinth’s construction, landscaping, technical infrastructure and maintenance.

Starting on the 3rd June, the public is invited to donate on-line at www.crowdfunder.co.uk/hove-plinth and get some great rewards.

Rewards include free tickets to Brighton Big Screen, Cass Art quality artist materials and a one-off portrait sculpture workshop by award-winning Brighton sculptor Hazel Reeves SWA FRSA. An exclusive visit to the Sussex studio of sculptor Philip Jackson CVO DL FRBS and limited edition preparatory sketches of the first Hove Plinth sculptures to be installed are also on offer. In addition there is the opportunity to become a Gold Level Hove Plinth founder and be named on a plaque beside the plinth listing key project supporters.

To support the fund raising, the Hove Plinth Video, which explains the ethos behind the project and the journey so far, will be shown every night at Brighton'sBig Screen on the beachalongside film and sport features  from June 10 to July 10. The audience will be able to support the project there and then by texting HOVE22 £5 to 70070.

Hove Civic Society is also inviting businesses in the city to sponsor the sculpture programme.
