In celebration of the first anniversary at Church Street, KMA Gallery unveils Sumptuous, featuring the work of encaustic painter David Hayward and hyper-realist food sculptor Anna Barlow. Refocusing their work through this lens, the result is a bold exhibition that celebrates the rich tapestry of a vivid, contemporary experience.

Often recalling heavily laden banquets of opulent food, the term sumptuous implies an elaborate abundance of plenty. While this focuses on exquisite material excess, here a shimmering horizon line or a soft scoop ice cream are celebrated as wonders to behold. For it is in life’s simple pleasures, easily taken for granted, where true luxury lies.
