The Log Cabin
It took us more than six years to find Bluebell Cottage; it was a long journey with many false starts, including properties falling through within a week of exchange. Finally though we discovered our home. When we bought it, it had been on the market for over two years and little work had been done on the property in 40 years. Our surveyor told us that he was initially excited about viewing a property in our area, however he was underwhelmed by our house and he personally wouldn’t buy it!
His advice unsettled me, prompting me to seek additional guidance from our builder. He reassured me that he could stabilise the house and remedy the issues but whether we could afford to pay for it was another matter.
Imagine how I felt coming home to our kitchen looking like this.
Mind where you step
We took the risk and nearly five years on there is still a lot to do, but we are living in the house and we have finally unpacked our belongings from the log cabin. Here are some pictures to show what we have been doing over the last couple of months in preparation for the festival.
Before…
Since encountering Bluebell I have always want to share this magical place and the surrounding land is perfect for showcasing sculpture. Initially the house was scary and I found the outdoor space overwhelming though always interesting and exciting. It definitely speaks of nature. The house and space offers us everything we want and more.
After (almost)
I feel it is time now to invite you to see the progress so far, hence the push to clear the garden and cabin so that we have space to show art.
